Announcing my new book - The AI Fluent Leader

Gísli Rafn Ólafsson4 minute read

Been spending a lot of time working on AI for the past month. Will be sharing more on that over the coming weeks. One reason for this is that I wanted to understand how I could have augmented my previous roles using AI. Another reason is that we are living through times of great disruption, and either you learn to ride the wave or you get eaten by AI.

I have captured a lot of my learnings in a new book, The AI Fluent Leader, which I plan to publish by the end of this month. More on that later if you subscribe to this new newsletter.

In this post, I wanted to give an insight into some of the work I have done to support my current and future self. I have mentioned a couple of these in the past, but here is a more extensive list of some of the AI solutions that I have developed:

  • AI Language Tutor - can help you learn any language using state-of-the-art language teaching techniques
  • Planner - helps you plan your day, week, month, year, and life through state-of-the-art methods for tackling procrastination and building good habits
  • Job Hunter - automatically scours 60+ career websites and finds new open positions that match my interests. Presents new positions to me and learns from my answers what to present next time. Saves me at least one hour per day in my job hunt.
  • Job Application Agent - once I have found interesting positions, this agent helps me align my CV, write a draft cover letter, answer the Job-Fit-Questions (JFQ) that the UN uses for their positions, and prepare for interview questions. Uses state-of-the-art best practices for doing all these things.
  • Board Director Agent - this agent helps me in my role as board director. Helps me critically examine decisions and formulate questions for the leadership team. Leverages state-of-the-art knowledge about how to best run boards. Also has a mode for Board Chair, in case I ever end up in that position.
  • Board CEO Agent - this agent is designed from the other side of the previous one. It helps the CEO foster strong collaboration and effective board management. Already learned a lot of things I would have done differently in my previous role.
  • Fundraising Agents - this agent is designed to help nonprofits with their fundraising efforts. Find donors and write successful grant applications. This builds on my previous work creating an AI “Chief Fundraiser” and using state-of-the-art expertise to secure donations. Looking for a nonprofit interested in trying this one out.
  • Marketing Agent - this agent helps in the online marketing of any product using state-of-the-art online marketing methods. It handles copywriting, landing page and launch program creation, and all aspects of SEO. Will be using that over the coming month to generate interest for my new book.
  • Personal Branding Agent - this agent helps me in the process of establishing a personal brand for myself, a critical aspect for any author. You will see me make various changes to my online presence as a result of this agent, who uses state-of-the-art knowledge and frameworks for personal branding.
  • Podcast agent - this agent helps the user research the market for a podcast idea, helps structure the episode framework, and helps create draft episode scripts based on the user’s input. It draws on state-of-the-art information about what makes podcasts successful, and I may plan to launch my own podcast after this.
  • Presentation agent - this agent helps the user create a professional-looking presentation on any topic the user suggests. It helps structure the presentation and create the slides. Even adds speaking notes when asked to.
  • Online Course Agent - this agent takes a non-fiction book, like those I have written, and develops a framework for teaching it online. The user can select how many classes the material should be distributed over, and that controls the depth of material covered. It then uses the input to create all the presentation slides along with speaking notes for each slide. It also helps with the launching and marketing of these courses.
  • TV Adaptation Agent - I have spoken about this one before. It takes a fiction novel as input and spits out the Series Bible, Episode Blueprint, and episode scripts. A great way to take an existing idea and turn it into the basis for adapting that idea to a TV series.
  • Strategy Agent - building on decades of strategic thinking from the masters of strategy, this agent can help the user with any strategic work, guiding them through best practices for making great decisions. It knows how to draft models, canvases, and other things McKinsey would charge you an arm and a leg for. It has been very interesting to see what it suggests as solutions to some of the problems organizations I am very familiar with are dealing with.

These are just a few of the ones I have put together so far. Would love to hear what I should create next.
