AI does not replace leaders. It exposes them.

You have approved the budgets, endorsed the strategies, and made the announcements. Yet the gap between AI investment and AI value keeps widening. The problem is rarely the technology. It is what AI reveals about strategy, governance, readiness, and culture, and what it now asks of the people at the top.

The AI Fluent LeaderThe Art of Leading When AI Changes Everything · 2026
The argument

Conviction is not enough. Fluency is what converts investment into value.

The book opens in a boardroom, where a chief executive is reviewing a forty-seven-million-dollar AI investment that has produced flat performance. The question he brings is the one this book is organized around: what is wrong with us, and what do we do about it?

The answer begins with a distinction most organizations miss. AI literacy is knowledge about AI. AI fluency is the ability to work with AI. The gap between them is where most AI leadership failures originate, and it is closed through practice, not briefings. What follows is a complete system for closing it, one imperative at a time.

AI literacy is knowledge about AI. AI fluency is the ability to work with AI.
